Joshua had his 4 month check-up today. He weighs 18 lbs, is 26 1/4 inches long, and head measures 17 1/4. That puts him in the 90th% for length and head, and 95th for weight.
We got the go-ahead to start on the rice cereal and baby food....so stay tuned for pictures!

Our trip to Michigan

November came and went so quickly -I didn't have time to do very much updating. We made the trip back to Michigan for Thanksgiving and Joshua's baptism. It was great to see family and friends again, but remain convinced there is nothing like Michigan winters!!! I think we will stay with our mild 50-60 degree December, thank you very much :) Josh's 4 month check-up is next week, so we'll have some stats and hopefully get the green light to start with rice cereal--oh boy!
Here are just a few pictures of our trip home.

3 Months old

Who can believe it, Josh is 3 months old already. How time flies. He is more and more smiley and 'talks' a lot. He is starting to sit in his Bumbo seat, wasn't too sure about it at first, but is doing better and better each time he is in it. We went to Swan Lake with our friends Will, Betsy, and Weston and took some pictures. Josh isn't quite photogenic yet--he was a good boy but had enough towards the end. Here is just a sneak peek at the Swan Lake outing and Dan's (re) re-enlistment. He signed for 3 more years, on top of the 3 he currently has left. (So another 6 years for now). We are very much looking forward to our move in February to Biloxi. Sumter/Shaw has been great, but we are ready for something new and exciting.

2 months

Josh had his 2 month checkup today. Mr Chunky-Monkey weighs 14 lbs 6 oz, 23 1/2 inches, and head measures 16 1/4. That puts him in the 95% for weight, 75% for height, and 75% for head. Poor little guy got 4 shots today and an oral vaccination. He was NOT happy, but after he caught his breath and calmed down, he went right to sleep. I'm sure it hurt me a lot worse than it hurt him...it's so hard to see him so upset! :(
Speaking of sleep, he has been a champ! The past few nights he has gone for stretches of 8, 9, or even 10 hours! However, he goes to bed about 7:00pm-so we are still up for a feeding at 3:00am or 4:00am, but I am not going to complain! I still get up 4 and 5 times throughout the night checking on him. There are many nights I lie there awake thinking surely he will be up soon...but he keeps on snoozin. I can't wait for the times when he AND I sleep through the night.

Pumpkin time!

You know it's fall when it's time for the pumpkin patch! Betsy and I took Joshua and Weston to see the pumpkins this morning. I think the Moms had a great time and the boys were not too happy. It was both of their nap times, and they just werent amused by all the pictures. It is really great to get out and send time with someone who knows exactly what I am feeling and going through. Weston has a 2 week jump on Josh, so Betsy is a great person to talk to and get advice from! Thanks Betsy for your friendship and company Friday mornings! Here are a few pictures from our outing and two other ones just cuz.

Small update and new pics

Not too much exciting news to report. Dan is waiting to hear when we will be moving to our next base in Biloxi, Mississippi. We are hoping by next week, but as with all things military, I will not hold my breath just yet. Josh continues to be cute as he can be, and growing more and more. Last night I packed up a box for storage of all his newborn clothing. It was kind of sad actually! He is in 3 month clothes now, some are a little baggy but overall they fit him. His neck is so strong he holds his head up all the time and looks around. He is so curious! And he is scooting around somehow-where I put him to sleep in his crib is certainly not where I find him when he wakes up! I am officially a stay at home mom now, I resigned from my position at the hospital. It was bittersweet, part of me thrilled to be home with him, part of me a little sad that I wont be working-at least not for a while. I guess that's it!

1 month old!

Hard to believe that 4 weeks have gone by and Joshua is already a month old. There were times when I didn't think either of us would make it this far. He is starting to get more of a personality and his looks are changing from 'newborn baby' to more of a little boy. We've discovered that bouncy seats are lifesavers! His motion rocks the chair and there is a switch for vibrations. Match that with a blanket and he more often than not takes a nap.

We had our one month checkup and he sure is growing!! He weighs 11 lbs 3 oz, and is 23 inches long. That's 2 inches loonger and 3 lbs heavier. Looks like switching to formula was a good choice! :)

The birth

My water was broken at 6:00am, so then we waited....and waited...and waited. 12 hours later the words c-section were thrown around as I could not dilate past 4 cm. 7:00pm I was being prepped for surgery, and 29 minutes later a our little boy was born into the world. He was 8lbs 2 oz, 21 1/4 inches long, and had very good vocal cords! I wasn't able to see or hold him for 4 hours as I recovered, but when I did...words can't describe the emotions that run through you.

November, 2007 brought us wonderful news--we were expecting a baby August 1st! This was truly a joyous, and yet anxious time. March 17th we received the news it was a boy. Young Joshua kept our minds racing with thoughts of what he would look like, what would he be like, and what would he become?

The pregnancy went along just fine with hardly any complications. The usual aches and pains, but nothing to complain about really. (Although...for the record...9 months pregnant in July in the South is not a good time!) The due date came and went, and so did the patience. We were so anxious to meet this little man. I went in for my routine appointment August 5th and the doctor gave us surprising news that I was to go straight to the hospital and be admitted--they were going to induce at 5am the following day!

In the beginning...

Well, we've finally decided to jump on the bandwagon and get a blog going. This will be a great way for friends and family to keep up to date on our lives.

To get you up to speed: Dan and I met many moons ago at Michigan State University. I was a sophomore and he was a freshman, long about 1999. Our relationship grew as the years went on, and put to the test as Dan enlisted in the Air Force in 2003. He chose a career path in meteorology and was stationed at Shaw AFB in Sumter, South Carolina. I remained in Michigan at this time...talk about a long 2 years! We got engaged May 15, 2005 in South Carolina, and wedding bells rang September 8, 2006 in Michigan.
